Weather .. the theme this week for A Word a Week.
Much of Australia still burns. Lives have now been lost. Fires started by intent. Stupidity and random acts of uncaring resulting in so much devastation. Thankfully safety surrounds me and mine.
Brisbane and Caloundra. Hot, humid, and dry. Mid-thirties on the thermometer. Humidity intense. Clouds not producing the seasonal monsoonal rain. Dams drying up. A baking sun. The earth becoming parched. Two years past of flood followed several years of drought. Are we again heading into drought? Days of grey skies, wind and wishes. A drop or two at best this year.
This weekends blue skies and threatening clouds again passed … no rain. And I felt it badly. Unused to the dry but extremely humid weather, the first in many years I have been in Brisbane at this time of year, I suffered. A dose of heat exhaustion. Collapsing on the bed both afternoons. Yesterday battling to focus and think. I had not drunk enough water. Typical in watching out for others, I did not watch out enough for myself. Unable to return home yesterday, I do so mid- morning. Messages sent to work, knowing I am not indispensable.
Early morning, sun’s up and the sky again blue. Humid still. Note to self… DRINK MORE WATER OFTEN …
Late afternoon sun in blue skies …
Early morning on the rapidly drying dam
Ibis walking through remaining mud … where water should be
Heading to the beach and water for some relief ..
Grey skies begin evenings wandering across the sky .. but that is all they are
Midweek in Brisbane and a dreary grey cloudy sky .. waterless
Incredibly windy
Dull and dreary
The week previously the wind had chased away the clouds
The earth becoming dry …
Hope this will be over soon… take care, Jenn.
Fires still in some areas, but the east coast was hit with severe weather and flooding
How awful, droughts can do so much damage and fires are the worst. I feel bad for all of those people who lost their lives. Thanks for the update, I’m in the US and we don’t hear about events where you are.
Ah and now the east coast is severely affected by floods
Hope the dry season is ending soon, and take care!

The humidity is the hardest to put up with, but on the coast we do get sea breezes and today we had RAIN, the garden is smiling…
Definitely … Rain a little here today too .. Not enough tho
We had 10mm last night, forecast for more to come by weekend. Fingers crossed…
take care please – and remember hyrolight is always good for dehydration. I stepped out of the door this morning and smelt smoke – its getting closer to melbourne
Much more conscious of drinking water now rather than just fluids in general … Has been terribly humid
Slightly different to mine LOL
Yep 🙂
