With the very wet summer and humidity butterflies are out in force. I managed to snap a couple of photos of the beautiful female Orchard Swallowtail butterfly up at Wondai the other week. Reaching up to 5.5 cm wingspan this is the largest butterfly on the east coast of Australia. This beautiful butterfly was rapidly beating its forewings, keeping the hindwings motionless as it fed on the nectar of the bottle brush. Females are larger and more colourful than their male counterparts. This weeks photo challenge is Motion.
