Three hours north of Brisbane is the beautiful historic city of Maryborough. Settled in 1847 as a major port and situated on the Mary River on the Fraser coast. Driving up to Hervey Bay, 30 kms or so further on, I had to drive through Maryborough. The Jacarandas and clock tower caught my attention. I had to investigate. I had never been through this delightful city before. After my brief stop yesterday, I have promised myself to return for a weekend, camera in tow.

I have a love of architecture and buildings, particularly historical ones. The detailed work, beauty and complexity of buildings from the past amazes me. I think we don’t realise how gifted and talented preceding generations were. These building stand to remind us of the incredible skill and love of dwellings. In opposition to nature, they are of course man made. Yet my other love is nature, trees and plants and animals.
